ERTICO – ITS Europe
ERTICO brings together the private and public sector to make mobility cleaner, safer and more efficient. ERTICO, together with its 120 Partners, develops, promotes and deploys smart mobility solutions and services for the benefit of all. Since 1991, ERTICO coordinated and worked on dozens of European projects, organised 38 ITS European and World Congresses, undertook a central role in public consultations and policy agendas, and established long-term relations with key players in Europe, United States of America, Japan, Russia, and China. ERTICO connects public authorities, industry players, infrastructure operators, users, national ITS associations and other organisations to innovate for tomorrow’s journey.
European Commission
The European Commission represents the general interest of the EU and is the driving force in proposing legislation (to Parliament and the Council), administering and implementing EU policies, enforcing EU law (jointly with the Court of Justice) and negotiating in the international arena. The European Commission has its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and some services also in Luxembourg. The Commission has Representations in all EU Member States and 139 Delegations across the globe.
ITS Portugal
ITS Portugal is an Association with the purpose of promoting the development, application and dissemination of technologically advanced solutions for transport, with a view to improving the quality of service, economy, transport efficiency and safety, while supporting mobility sustainable development of people and goods and access to geographically dispersed markets, by land, air or sea. ITS Portugal values the defence of the interests and needs of its members. It is the responsibility of the association to make the overall strategic planning of the entire organisation that will serve as the basis for the development of the plans of activities and specific projects.
Lisbon Municipality
The Lisbon City Council is the executive body of Lisbon’s Municipality and its mission is to define and execute policies that promote the development of Lisbon in different areas. Specifically involved in the organisation of ITS2023 will be the Councilman for Mobility and Safety, working for a change of paradigm in Lisbon’s mobility.
The Municipality is constantly promoting solutions that aim to reduce dependence on the private vehicle, while making mobility better as a whole, improving the quality of life and health for the people of Lisbon.
Lisbon Municipality supervises bus and tram operations through CARRIS, parking and shared bicycle network GIRA through EMEL, safety and security with the Municipal Police. It also has the direct management and development of mobility plans, traffic lights optimisation, bicycle paths implementation and speed detection instruments.
The Municipality aims to lead-by-example in a global movement that includes several stakeholders such as Government, other Municipalities, transport operators, infrastructure managers, among others, thriving to make Mobility efficient, sustainable and accessible to everyone.
